Rangamarthanda Review: An Overrated Movie Glorifying Destructive Commucation inside Telugu Families
The Telugu audience is clearly suffering from an overdose of colorful sets, over-the-top-costumes and extremely shallow plot lines that characterise many blockbusters. This convinced Krishnavamsi that anything without joy, color and positivity will automatically become an art-movie and a hit among the audience. Hence, this movie.
While dotted with well written dialogues and great performance by the cast, Rangamartanda banks on stretching family drama to unreasonable lengths for shock-effect.
It was irritating to watch Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishna twist every normal conversation into emotional blackmail. This drama is the only fuel to the movie.
Summary:
Prakash Raj is an average 60 or 70-something dad, and a retired stage actor. He has two very reasonable children who have reasonable requests like wanting to raise their kids the way they like and to keep their professional and family life separate.
Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishna on the other hand, live life by one motto — “If my kids don’t behave the way we like, we will leave town and tell everyone that our kids kicked us out.”
